È composto da 4 coppie intrecciate schermate (STP) di fili di rame con due connettori RJ45 dorati su ciascuna estremità. Rispetto al cavo Ethernet Cat 6A/6/5, la schermatura aggiuntiva e la migliore qualità nella torsione dei fili forniscono una migliore protezione da crosstalk, rumore e interferenze che possono degradare la qualità del segnale.
