Durante il primo anno di vita, il cranio dei neonati si sviluppa in modo davvero molto rapido. Si tratta di una fase delicata, in cui le ossa del cranio sono più molli rispetto a quelle di una persona adulta e che proprio per questo motivo possono andare incontro a deformazioni. C'è una deformazione davvero molto diffusa, comunemente definita sindrome da testa piatta o plagiocefalia.
La causa di questa sindrome è causata dalla posizione in cui il bambino dorme. Se il bambino dorme infatti con il cranio appoggiato su una superficie particolarmente dura e piatta, è possibile che le ossa posteriori del cranio vadano incontro a questa deformazione.
Che fare? Ci sono alcuni piccoli accorgimenti che le mamme e i papà possono prendere in considerazione per prevenire l'insorgere di questa sindrome, tra cui anche l'utilizzo di appositi cuscini anti testa piatta.
