4 delle 8 porte RJ45 dotate di auto-negoziazione (porte da 1-4) sono dotate di interruttore di alimentazione con supporto Power over Ethernet (PoE). Queste porte PoE sono in grado di rilevare automaticamente e alimentare di energia i dispositivi compatibili con IEEE 802.3af (PDs). L`energia elettrica viene trasmessa assieme ai dati in un unico cavo che consente di espandere la rete in luoghi in cui non ci sono linee o prese elettriche, nei quali si desidera collocare dispositivi come AP, IP Camera o telefoni IP, ecc.
TL-SG1008P dispone della funzione Port priority che consente la protezione del sistema in caso di sovraccarico. Se l'assorbimento elettrico di tutti i dispositivi PoE collegati è >= 53W, entrerà in funzione un meccanismo di diversa priorità tra le porte PoE, togliendo l'alimentazione alle porte con priorità più bassa.
