Si tratta di un olio di origine vegetale limpido e di colore rosso, è indicato per lucidare, nutrire e rigenerare qualsiasi tipo di manufatto in legno posto all'interno, come mobili, infissi, serramenti e perlinature.
La sua colorazione è però utile per intensificare il tono cromatico del legno e lo rende un prodotto ideale anche per impregnare i pavimenti in cotto.
L'olio rosso non è filmogeno (non forma una patina sulle superfici trattate dopo l'essiccazione) ed è quindi ideale nel restauro dei mobili antichi.
Penetra nelle fibre del legno ravvivandone le colorazioni e conferendo al legno tonalità calde e piacevoli.
L'olio rosso viene impiegato nel restauro anche come lubrificante per far scivolare il tampone nella lucidatura a spirito e gommalacca.
