Il fungo Reishi, in botanica detto Ganoderma Lucidum, è un saprofita conosciuto da millenni in estremo oriente per le sue disparate qualità officinali. È un fungo che cresce spontaneamente in un areale ampio e popolato dagli alberi che predilige: quercia e castagno. In Cina è da sempre conosciuto con il nome Ling Zhi, in Giappone viene chiamato Reishi. Cresce in ogni stagione fuorché d'inverno ma predilige i mesi più caldi e approfitta dei tronchi di latifoglie ma non disdegna le piante d'olivo. Nei paesi che ne conoscono le immense qualità medicinali viene essiccato e polverizzato ed è utilizzato per preparare unguenti, liquori, decotti e più recentemente capsule e compresse.
