I Semi di cetriolo "Marketmore 76"
sono una varietà di cetriolo americana, popolare tra i coltivatori per la sua produttività, resistenza alle malattie e sapore eccellente.
I semi sono di forma ovale e di colore verde scuro, e sono di dimensioni abbastanza piccole, di circa 2-3 millimetri.
Le piante di cetriolo "Marketmore 76" sono rampicanti e possono crescere fino a 6-8 piedi di altezza. Producono frutti lunghi circa 8-9 pollici (20-23 cm) con una circonferenza di circa 3-4 pollici (7-10 cm) e un peso di circa 12-14 once (340-400 g). I frutti hanno una buccia rugosa, ma liscia al tatto, e sono di colore verde scuro.
La polpa del cetriolo "Marketmore 76" è croccante, fresca e di colore bianco chiaro. Ha un sapore dolce e leggermente amaro, ed è perfetta per l'uso in insalate, sottaceti o semplicemente come spuntino fresco.
Questa varietà di cetriolo è anche nota per la sua resistenza alle malattie, tra cui il marciume delle radici, l'oidio e il virus del mosaico del cetriolo.
I semi di cetriolo "Marketmore 76" sono adatti alla coltivazione in terreni ben drenati e ricchi di nutrienti, con una buona esposizione al sole. Sono solitamente seminati in primavera, quando il terreno si è riscaldato a circa 18-20 °C. La pianta richiede una buona quantità di acqua e fertilizzante per produrre frutti sani e robusti.
Semina: in ambiente protetto a febbraio-marzo; all’aperto in aprile-giugno con 3-4 semi per buchetta. Diradare lasciando una sola piantina per buca quando hanno 2-3 foglie vere.
Distanze: tra le file 90-100 cm, 50-60 sulle file.
Consigli: mettere i semi in acqua tiepida 24 ore prima di seminarli; sostenere le piante con reti o tutori come con i fagioli.
