Contenendo un alta % di acqua, il cetriolo possiede proprietà diuretiche, depurative e rinfrescanti portando benefici ai reni; contiene acido tartarico capace di bloccare la trasformazione di carboidrati in grassi, per questo motivo è indicato per le diete.
La polpa viene utilizzata per maschere di bellezza in modo da contrastare le infezioni della pelle.
IL TERRENO cresce bene su terreni profondi, freschi, di medio impasto e con buona fertilità.
LE ESIGENZE CLIMATICHE la temperatura ottimale è di 25-28°. La temperatura minima di crescita è di 15°C. Tende ad avvantaggiarsi di una forte umidità dell’aria. Trapianti consigliati a pieno campo da aprile ad agosto.
IL TRAPIANTO Ideale nelle ore più fresche della giornata. Umettare bene la zolletta prima del trapianto al suolo e irrigare leggermente il terreno per facilitare l’attecchimento. Interrare solo la zolletta.
LA DISTANZA sulla fila, ossia tra una pianta e l’altra, lasciare 45-65 cm; tra le file lasciare 80-100 cm per il transito.
LE IRRIGAZIONI Per una migliore gestione si consiglia l’impianto a goccia che evita la bagnatura delle foglie riducendo le problematiche fitosanitarie. Evitare squilibri idrici. Annaffiare nelle ore più fresche preferibilmente al mattino. Ha notevoli esigenze nutritive.
LA RACCOLTA 45-65 giorni dal trapianto in base al periodo, è scalare e si effettua ogni 2-3 giorni.
