È una varietà a maturazione tardiva, una pianta vigorosa e produttiva.
I frutti sono di circa 2 chili, di forma ovale con buccia rugosa di color giallo intenso a maturazione.
Polpa biancastra, molto succosa, tenera e rinfrescante.
Predilige un clima temperato caldo, asciutto durante la maturazione.
Caratteristiche:
Semina: da aprile a maggio, 3-4 semi per buca a 2 cm. di profondità, direttamente in piena terra, quando il terreno è almeno a 20 °C, oppure in marzo-aprile in vasetti al coperto per colture anticipate.
Trapianto: all’aperto a fine aprile-inizi maggio, trascorso il rischio di gelate.
Distanze: tra le file m. 1,5-2,5, sulla fila m. 0,8-1,5, a seconda della vigoria.
Consigli: lasciare in ogni buchetta una sola pianta; cimare il getto principale sopra la quarta foglia e procedere allo stesso modo con i tralci laterali. Effettuare una rotazione più lunga possibile, comunque non coltivare dopo solanacee e non dopo specie della stessa famiglia.
Semi occorrenti: 50-70 gr. per 100 mq. di terreno, secondo varietà.
