La salvia è una pianta perenne appartenente alla famiglia delle Lamiaceae, molto facile da coltivare e utilizzata in tutto il mondo per il suo aroma caratteristico.
La semina, invece, va fatta a inizio primavera. I semi della salvia hanno una bassa germinalità quindi mettetene una buona manciata nel vostro semenzaio, poi bagnatelo e copritelo per mantenere la temperatura costante. Ricordatevi di eliminare giornalmente la condensa dal telo che utilizzate per coprire il semenzaio.
Evitate terreni acidi e cretosi. Per la salvia il terreno ideale è calcareo o sabbioso .
La Salvia fiorisce durante primavera ed estate, mentre i semi maturano da agosto a settembre.
Questa pianta aromatica è sia termofila che eliofila ovvero ama sia il caldo che il sole. Può essere coltivata sia in vaso che in terra in zone dove l’inverno non è troppo rigido.
Sopporta bene la siccità ma attenzione ai ristagni d’acqua che sono la causa principale di morte di questa pianta.
